Product Description

As part of our fundraising efforts Kona Historical Society is opening up their next issue of Ha’ilono to you as an advertiser or sponsor and allowing you an exclusive chance to reach our growing audience with your message while also supporting a worthwhile 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Ha‘ilono is Kona Historical Society’s publication devoted to original articles and other unique, engaging content on Kona’s history and on ways to connect to the past. Each issue offers articles on a variety of historical and cultural subjects, including pieces like “Jeremiah Martin’s Journey from Slavery to Freedom in Honau'ino,” talking about an intersection of African-American history in Hawaii, by Guy Emerson of the University of Chicago and insightful features about places in the Kona Districts or their citizens, such as “Naluahine,” about a renowned Hawaiian paniolo and revered kahu, by Cultural Historian Allen Wall and “Maile’s Meanderings: Ka’awaloa, South Kona,” highlighting the history of this area through photos, by Kona Historian Maile Melrose. In addition to these articles which help inspire a lifelong passion and interest in local history, Ha‘ilono shares details about upcoming cultural, historical, educational, artistic and altruistic events and programs provided by Kona Historical Society and those happening in Hawaii. Ha‘ilono also dives into preservation-related issues facing our treasures, precious objects, and resources in our community. Ha‘ilono is a must-read for those with a lifelong love of history, culture, community, education and the arts.

Circulation of Ha’ilono is to KHS members & donors, local businesses, sponsors, grantors, at KHS’ many events & community appearances and is available at the University of Hawai`i’s Manoa Library (with 58,000 visitors!). Kona Historical Society members and friends are highly educated professionals and business decision makers. They love to travel, dine out and actively participate in arts and cultural activities. As a sponsor or advertiser you will be in the company of West Hawai’i’s businesses and individuals that demonstrate their commitment to the Kona community.
